Why Remanufacture?

There are numerous benefits from working with a “start-to-finish” remanufacturing provider. Highlighted below are a few of these benefits:

  • The typical life span for rotating electrical and electronics is four (4) to seven (7) years. However, the expected life span of the equipment they support is twenty-five (25) to thirty (30) years. While supporting the consumer demand for these components is critical to ensuring "on-going" customer satisfaction the burden on the OEM’s operation is often cost prohibitive to produce such low and sporadic volumes. Supporting the demand for these components through a third party remanufacturer allows the OEM to continue to meet the demand for these items without consuming internal resources.

  • By utilizing SRC Technologies Group for your ongoing support of obsolete/legacy components or low volume new production the OEM is able to focus internal resources on new product support with higher volume demands.

  • SRC Technologies Group is able to provide complete warranty management for your current production components. This service allows us to provide critical feedback regarding common failures, make product improvement recommendations and offer reduced financial exposure by using reman for warranty.

  • By identifying the specific cause of failure for each unit, SRC Technologies Group is able to determine the most common modes of failure for each product line. This information is then shared with the OEM and product improvement recommendations are made that can be applied to current and future products.

  • The collection of used components (Core), keeps these items out of our landfills supporting a "green" friendly environment. Financially, this initiative saves OEM's money through the avoidance of expensive disposal fees as well as procurement costs which are up to 50% less than new production units.

    • Adds longevity to the OEM's revenue stream with its’ customers

    • Provides margin returns that are as good or better than new

    • Allows the OEM to offer a lower cost option for service parts

    • Provides the OEM with a lower cost option for warranty claims

    • Returns components to the OEM specifications and is backed by a warranty that meets or exceeds the new warranty

Remanufacturing Life Cycle Curve

  • This is where all new products begin. It starts with an idea.

  • This is where the idea’s begin to take shape. Most of the products we target, such as ECMs and Displays, come standard on our OEM Partner's finished whole goods (i.e. Tractor, Combine, etc.) in addition to service part offerings to handle upgrades and warranty support. During this phase we have found significant advantages to kicking off our Warranty Administration activities over these new components. As we are constantly working to improve our Partners Quality, Costs and (where applicable) Designs, our access to facilitate and administer warranty through our team of reman experts simply makes sense. As we move out of the initial warranty phases of new components we are also well equipped with field failure mode data as we begin to consider Reman offerings. Collection of warranty return products also serve as the initial Core collection.

  • As programs depart their first 12-18 months of new production, this is where development of a reman program begins, if it hasn’t already been launched for warranty cost reduction. At this point field failures are understood completely allowing for the development of remanufacturing processes and product improvements.

  • As field populations peak, non-genuine parts providers will introduce solutions to the market. These parts are typically low cost, low quality alternatives, that will erode an OEM’s service parts sales. A remanufactured product offering is the best defense at maintaining service parts market share for an OEM.

  • The declining phases of new electronic products is where a reman option has a significant impact on our OEM partner’s overall business. Specifically, we have the ability to support the long life requirements of the end user, thereby eliminating the need for significant lifetime purchases by the OEM. Uptime is one of our primary value propositions when faced with obsolescence. Lastly, we support our OEM's through additional end-user service offerings such as directly distributed repair services.
